A Scheme of Work Year Plan (year overview) for the ICT/Computing Essential Digital Skills Qualification (EDSQ) for Entry Level 3 & Level 1. The year plan uses the Pearson curriculum specification (although can easily be adapted to suit other awarding bodies such as NOCN or OCN). Starting the academic year 2024-2025. Useful as a guide when creating your schemes of work or can be put at the front of students’ folders to chart progress. Ideal for SEN students, the course curriculum is spaced out through the year to allow plenty of time for completion and repeat assessments if needed. It covers all five units: Using Devices and Handling Information Creating and Editing Communicating Transacting Being Safe and Responsible Online.

This resource can be used for students that require Rarpa (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement); it is linked to the PfA (Preparing for Adulthood) goals/target - Independent Living Skills. Where students get to review the progress with their PfA independent living goal and tutors can provide written feedback.

This is a 7 page task booklet to teach the EDSQ (Essential Digital Skills Qualification) Unit 1 - Using Devices - Hardware and Software. Includes sections where students can demonstrate the usage of hardware and software. Perfect for Entry Level 3 and Level 1 students, including SEN students. There is also an 18 slide PowerPoint presentation to go with it, that is a full teaching PowerPoint, with learning outcomes, gauging prior knowledge, teaching slides, keywords, 2 extension tasks and a recap of learning.

This resource can be used in ICT/Computing sessions as an end of session/topic student feedback sheet/exit slip. It can be used to gauge a students understanding of the session or topic and provides written feedback and next steps to support learning.

This is a resource I use with my SEN students who are completing IT courses. Students are tasked with creating and conducting a survey (to work on their communication skills and confidence). Students have to find out what types of computer products people prefer (Laptop, Mobile, Smart Watch etc.) It can also be used to develop students’ Excel document skills by collating the results into a bar chart or graph. Perfect for Entry Level 3 and above.

This resource is great for writing subject reports for SEN students. It gives the opportunity to state what course criteria has been completed so far, whether they are on track, how they have managed each half term and what support needs they have. By completing a section each half term, means when its report time at the end of the academic year, your reports are already written!

These 4 evidence sheets can be used to organise the students Entry Level 3 NOCN (National Open College Network) Basic Makeup Application course portfolio, in order to make it easier to find the NOCN criteria evidence. They are usually placed in front the accompanying NOCN Basic Makeup Appication Entry Level 3 Portfolio Assessment Sheets (which are an opportunity for students to provide photographic evidence for their qualification). This resource is a PowerPoint that I print out and use as a work booklet. It is a Formal Art Elements work booklet, which can be used as an activity as part of learning about Formal Art Elements, as a stand alone project for substitute teaching or as an Initial Assessment task. The resource covers the Formal Art Elements: Texture Colour Line Tone Space Shape Form Pattern Students are require to show texture via frottage (rubbings), add primary and secondary colours, fill a box with different lines etc.

This is a resource I use with students completing a Functional Skills - English/Literacy course. It is a Speaking and Listening task, where students have to roleplay or practice making a phone call. The resource states strategies for making a successful phone call. This resource could be used for SEN students, to support them with the Speaking and listening course criteria.

This is a resource I use for SEN students completing Art sessions. At the beginning of the year, the students state what their EHCP Art goal is and how they will achieve it in sessions. This goal is then reviewed again half way through the year and again at the end of the year to measure progress and achievement. (See accompanying Art EHCP goal review sheet.)

This is a 3 page resource where students can self assess their work after completing an art project. It asks students state the art movement, which formal art elements have been used, what went well, what would improve the work, the inspiration behind the art work and to add photographic evidence of the work. There is also an opportunity for tutors to provide feedback and what next steps are needed.
